Cohousing is an intentional community of private homes clustered around shared space. Cohousing offers an alternative living arrangement that blends privacy and autonomy with friendship and collaboration. A "town" is much more than its infrastructure, it's the people and relationships that influence our experience. As we look at rebuilding our ridge communities after disaster, we have the unique opportunity to create a town that reflects our values. Join us as we explore the co-housing model with architect Charles Durrett. In this 90 min presentation, we will discuss affordable housing options for Paradise and explore the suitability of cohousing. There will be a full slide-show presentation, as well as an in-depth question and answer session. Fire safety will be part of the presentation. Charles Durrett is featured in a film that will screen on Saturday March 14th at 1:00 PM at Pageant Theater. The film will not be shown during this workshop so join us on Saturday to learn about cohousing in a nearby town. ABOUT THE FILM: ?The Best of Both Worlds: Cohousing's Promise (USA), 27 min. Explores the concept of cohousing, as expressed through first-hand observations of residents of four cohousing communities and observations by architect Charles Durrett, who brought the concept to the US from Denmark.
