A small reception and brief program with check presentations to some of the community organizations assisting with fire relief efforts will take place inside the store with Safeway’s senior leadership, business and community leaders in attendance.
Safeway's generous customers and employees raised more than $700,000 in disaster relief donations to help people and communities affected by the Camp Fire. Last November, Safeway stores in Northern California collected donations at check stands to assist local disaster relief organizations, including Butte County Office of Education, California Vocations, Inc., Paradise Rotary Foundation, Seventh-day Adventist Church and other organizations to support recovery efforts in Paradise.
"We take great pride in giving back to the communities we serve," said John Cain, Chico District Manager of Safeway. "We're committed to helping our neighbors impacted by the devastating fire and we know the needs to recover are immense."
