Paradise, CA-- On the two-year anniversary of the Camp Fire, Saturday November 7th from 9am - 12noon PT and Sunday November 8th 2pm-5pm PT, the nonprofit organization Regenerating Paradise will produce the second annual Paradise Revival Festival. The online convening will bring together the members of the Ridge community and individuals and organizations from fire and disaster-affected communities to engage with regenerative community work.
The event will build upon the community process led by Urban Design Associates (UDA), in which residents of Paradise participated in a visioning process to identify the values essential to life in Paradise. The result was a plan to create a Safer, More Welcoming, Stronger, Better, and Greener town.
Regenerating Paradise, whose mission is “to weave the social fabric that regenerates us” is holding this vision and regularly checks in with community members and organizations about how this vision is being manifested through their work.
The purpose of the Paradise Revival Festival is to help those involved in the rebuild and recovery process to increase our capability to regenerate Ridge communities with greater harmony and diversity of people, place, and nature. The sessions are designed to mirror regenerative and developmental processes. The synergies and interconnectedness of disciplines will be explored, out of which new relationships will emerge.
“The challenge for our community is to co-create and build together in a way that develops local economies in relationship with natural systems. What we saw on November 8th was an example of system-wide failure. What does system-wide health look like? We have an opportunity here to create something new,” said Regenerating Paradise director Allen Myers.
Regenerating Paradise is a nonprofit organization formed in the wake of the Camp Fire. We define ‘regenerating’ as a process of rebuilding and recovery that replenishes rather than depletes. We look to the residents of the Ridge-our community-for our resources, with the intention “to co-create and cultivate communities that make use of our abundant gifts and that work for all life.”
