In this training, trainees will be introduced to fundamental mechanical concepts including threaded fasteners, basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, fittings, pliers and locking devices, mallets and hammers and non-threaded fasteners will be introduced. An introduction to torque wrenches and basic mechanical systems through levers, cams, turnbuckles and pulleys and gears will be offered. A combination of online learning reinforced with hands-on application activities will be used. Upon completion of this course trainees will be able to: Understand how threaded fasteners are sized, graded and fit for applications. Understand basic hand tools, their applications and types. Understand how fittings are sized, graded and fit applications. Identify the parts and proper set up of a torque wrench according to need for fastener size, type and application. Identify basic mechanical applications using levers, cams, turnbuckles, pulleys and gears.
