Enloe Medical Center invites the community to tune in to its Facebook page or YouTube channel on #GivingTuesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. for a virtual tree lighting ceremony to celebrate the season.
The merry event will feature carolers, festive music, lighting of Enloe’s holiday tree and more. Santa Claus will be on hand to chat virtually with attendees, and kids of all ages are encouraged to post their questions and Christmas wishes into the event’s Comment field, so Saint Nick can respond.
“This is one of our favorite events every year — and we know the community looks forward to it as well,” said Mike Wiltermood, Enloe’s president and CEO. “With all of the challenges 2020 has presented, we want to make sure we could bring a little cheer to our community by continuing this wonderful tradition. We’re pleased to be able to do so virtually.”
Enloe dedicates the tree lighting to a special person in the community every year. This year, the dedication will go to the entire North State for its support of the medical center.
“We hope families will tune in and enjoy the program,” said Jolene Francis, Enloe’s director of Advancement & Communications. “Clearly this year has been different for all of us, which makes it even more important that we find ways to connect safely and celebrate the spirit of the season.”
The Enloe Carolers will perform holiday favorites starting at around 6:10 p.m., then Enloe officials will address the public. Later Santa Claus will take center stage around 6:30 p.m. for an interview and to chat with attendees.
